But go for a ride and the truth comes out. The ProClimb is designed specifically to reduce ice and snow buildup. The hood and console aerodynamically move snow away from the sled. Wide a-arm spacing reduces area for ice and snow attachment, eliminating build up in the front suspension. This year our shorter heat exchanger and powder-coated tunnel prevents accumulation on the tunnel unlike on the competitor’s machines. While they’re being dragged down by up to 47 more pounds of snow and ice,* our sleds fly high and dry all day long. Take another 18 pounds off the 2014 models, and the advantage is clearly ours.

Chassis

It takes guts, skill and good equipment to head out into the backcountry or race up a hill filled with some of the nastiest bumps and ruts ever seen. Just ask Rob Kincaid, David McClure or any of the Tapio boys. They take their ProClimb™ M's into some of the deepest, steepest most gnarliest places around and come out on top. Their passion doubles as our test track.

The ProClimb chassis is made up of an inner- and outer-formed shell with boxed support structure to make up the two-piece tunnel, giving additional strength and weight savings. Put it all together and you get one amazing chassis.

The tapered design gives the rider better leg positioning for both stand-up and sit-down riding styles. Large running board cutouts clear out snow for easy foot movement on the running boards.

The triangulated design increases rigidity with incredible strength and reduced weight. While the shock angle distributes trail force to the mega-strong triangulated spars.

Engine

For 2014 we usher in the new model year with a new engine naming system. In order of horsepower we begin with the 9000, followed by the 8000. These engines are the same 1100 Turbo 4-stroke and 800 H.O. 2-stroke that you have come to rely on for performance and efficiency. We just gave them a new identity to assure everyone knew they are still at the top of the pecking order in this family of power.

9000 C-TEC4™™

180-Class Horsepower

The 9000 C-TEC4 turbocharged 1056cc 4-stroke engine produces 177 HP – –at any elevation and temperature-–making it the most powerful production engine ever in a snowmobile. And this intercooled turbo system utilizes 9 psi of boost.

8000 2-Stroke

160+ Horsepower

The 8000, 794cc, liquid-cooled 2-stroke engine produces 160+ HP. It features a lightweight crankshaft, batteryless EFI, APV electronic exhaust valves, Exhaust Pipe Temperature System and weight-saving engine-reverse technology.

Suspension

The Arctic Cat® suspension is a sharpshooter’s best friend. However, there is a distinct suspension package for your preferred terrain: The HCR is stiff. The Sno Pro® is firm. The Standard is soft. Take a minute to acquaint yourself with the finer points of each.

Triangulated A-Arm Attachment Points The triangulated design equates to strength. Also, the shock load is angled back toward the rider’s mass, providing ample shock reaction. Maximum valve and spring control allow for better cornering and better ride control over bumps at high speeds. The ball joints allow the right amount of movement and prevents friction when going over dips and chatter bumps, allowing the sled to handle and steer without restriction.
Arctic Race Suspension™ The front shocks are strategically aligned with the front spars to transfer the impact force to the upper spar assembly - the strongest point of the chassis. This almost eliminates body flex and provides a smooth, comfortable ride. The lighter one-piece forged aluminum spindle also improves turning radius and reduces darting at high speed. The M standard comes with Arctic Cat (IFP) shocks. The M Sno Pro and Limiteds come standard with FOX FLOAT® 3 Shocks and the M HCR gets upgraded FOX FLOAT EVOL shocks.

M Rear Suspension The ProClimb M comes with two different suspensions. A tri-hub rear axle system with Arctic Cat shocks on the Standard models and a springless FOX FLOAT 2 air shock rear suspension that is on our Sno Pro, Limited and HCR models. The springless suspension reduces snow buildup weight while providing a full range of pressure and tuning options.

Drive System

It's not all about the engine. Performance also comes from the drive system. Our Torque Control Link™ provides proper belt alignment which extends belt life and the Arctic Drive System™ ties everything together nicely - providing you with the smoothest, most powerful ride out there.

Torque Control Link™ The Torque Control Link maintains perfect belt tension and alignment. Better alignment means a longer belt life, which results in a bigger smile due to your fatter wallet.
Arctic Drive System™™ The ADS™ utilizes a larger driven clutch and a longer center-to-center clutch distance - properly cooling of the drive belt and eliminates pre-mature belt wear. Also, the chain case is formed of lightweight magnesium.
